Tristar Driving has a fantastic infographic out recently which really does get the message across. It’s clear and concise, and there’s no denying that this UK driving school are forward-thinking and innovative in their approach to digital marketing. Here it is:
You might have found this article from a Google search because you’re part of a business that needs to get some news out to your clients and prospective clients. If this is the case then you may be aware that having a press release written and distributed can be a fantastic way of getting the word out that your company or organisation has been or is currently doing something that deserves to be shouted about! This can be a fantastic method of supporting your business marketing plan and being proactive about promoting your offerings.
Whether you supply goods or supply services, it’s always a very useful idea to make your target market aware that you exist in the marketplace and that your products or services are what they need. This is the very basis of good marketing and you’d be very surprised at how many businesses get this wrong and go down the wrong path, wasting money as they go. I’d recommend that any business have a marketing plan in place before they even think about starting to spend their budget. I see lots of naive decision makers who start a project but never finish it. This is a waste of money. If you’re going to pursue a campaign then you’re always better to follow it through to the end rather than not seeing it through to the finish and never learning anything much from the venture.
I’m sure you’d like to know how to write an effective press release so I’ll delve lightly into that in this section. The first thing to remember when setting out to write the perfect press release is that you’ll need to have all of your research in front of you when you’re writing it. You’re going to structure your press release properly rather than just writing the press release from start to finish…this is not the right way to write a press release – so ensure that you make your job easier and produce a more effective press release by planning the sections beforehand. Then you almost just have to fit the different sections together – it can be that easy. But, no, wait a second, it isn’t that easy unfortunately you still have to write the sections and this can be challenging but don’t despair – if you’ve got your research there in front of you in preparation for writing your press release then the task should be all the more easier. So don’t delay, start writing your new press release right now and don’t forget to make sure that you’re writing your press release at a time of the day when you’re fresh and focused. For some people this ideal time for writing might be first thing in the morning, for others it might be just before lunch when you’re hungry and more mind is more focused (this might be the opposite for lots of people too!) and for some they are night owls and will work at night when everyone else in tucked up in bed. Whichever time you choose to write your press release, just make sure you write one! Then another! Then another!
So lots of people ask me why I love to write, and bear in mind that I my writing isn’t just for work purposes – I don’t write a little bit in my leisure time too and the two areas do often collide! My typical response when asked why I love writing is that it makes me feel free. Free to create and I do very much like to see my creations grow and grow as I nurture them. I mostly write using my trusty PC with a well-known piece of software that I use for document creation. Using this particular word processor is fun and it is definitely way more appealing than the old typewriter that a guy like me would have to have used had I been born in an earlier era. But I’m very fortunate I guess, to have been lucky enough to be born and raised in an information age where we have the world wide web to learn from. Libraries still exist but people tend to frequent them much less these days and, besides, we have a host of electronic libraries online where we can browse and download books onto our tablet devices and smartphones. Technology is great!
Before I digress further I’ll get back onto the point of why I love writing so much. I like how the initial thoughts and feelings that I put into the process start to come to life as the piece of writing progresses. It’s a wonderful feeling when that what you initial have a concept for in your mind begins to unfold before your very eyes. So whether you write for your job or just for fun you should never underestimate the amount of pleasure that you can get from creating a fantastic piece of work. I love to write these blog posts too and find them to be a great way of channeling my thoughts and feelings. It really is that simple. I tend to create quite a few blog posts and also give out blog writing tips to anyone who will listen. It’s one of the most enjoyable parts of my job. I also love to produce press releases and enjoys the research that comes with doing that too. Wow! What a great feeling when a press release is ready to go out. Just writing a simple article, say a five hundred word or so article can be a challenge, especially if you are out of practice with writing. But the more you write (and let’s face it – all of us writers, at some point, will have had the dreaded writers’s block) you better you get at it. So, whatever you need or want to write, if you’ve ever loaded your word processing application of choice and are raring to go, then just take that time to really put that effort into writing because it can be very fulfilling to create something that is great. Remember to stop for a break every so often whilst writing. Stretch your legs. You know what they say about all work and no play too. You need rest and when you’re working very hard it’s vitally important to make sure that you do get plenty of good quality sleep.
I wish you well with your writing!
I’m Michael Greenwood. I run a company called Internet Marketing Platinum Ltd. We’re based in the town of Barnsley which is near to Sheffield, Doncaster, Leeds and Rotherham. We’re probably only about a hour and half’s drive from York too. Based in the heart of South Yorkshire, we’re a company that is reasonably priced for what we offer and what we provide is a service that truly is second-to-none.
The core of our business is certainly search engine optimisation (SEO) and helping our clients receive more targeted traffic, and often, more enquiries and sales. We also provide a range of social media marketing and social media management services – we basically not only Tweet, post on Facebook, submit messages to your Google+ account, post YouTube videos and Linkedin…Pinterest lately too, oh and Vimeo, well, you get the idea! Apart from this, we often find that some services really are required by our clients especially when we’re providing them with another service which requires it. What do I mean by this? I’ll explain…if we’re providing SEO, many clients simply expect on-site and off-site SEO. They expect us to change on-page elements on their website and create backlinks. But they also need fresh, new content on their website…they often need a blog. So we design one which looks like their existing website (known as skinning or theming) and implement it. This means that the SEO strategy will be greatly improved and the fresh, new content required by the project can be actioned.
At this point we usually see one of two things. Either the client happily designates the tasks of blog post writing to a member or member’s of their team or they outsource the efforts to us. There are, of course, often variations on this where the client will start to blog post or a member of their team will with good intentions but the quality of the posts will be poor. We do always try to work with the client to guide them in good blog post writing techniques and practices. We impart the keyword research to them. Teach them about LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) and, especially these days, relay the important and not keyword stuffing their blog posts and not over-representing anchor text with money keywords. We teach that branded, naked and generic keywords should be used for the most part of their links and so on.
Sometimes we’ll have a client who starts off well, with excellently constructed blog posts, written and scheduled on a regular basis…but then comes the drop off. The blog posts go from the recommended number per week for that client, to just a few, to zilch! This is when we take over and provide the blog post writing service for the client. It all needs a solid plan though, a good blog post writing strategy is what will not only work but also keep you motivated towards your ultimate goal of search engine domination!
